Before & aftercare
Smooth starts before you arrive
To get the best results and keep irritation to a minimum, here is everything you need to know, from the days before to the days after.
Before
Preparing for your appointment
Exfoliate gently 24 to 48 hours before your appointment.
For 48 hours before, avoid retinol, AHAs, BHAs and any tanning products.
On the day, come along with clean, dry skin.
I will also email you a consent form after you book. Please fill it in and send it back before your appointment.
The right hair length
Hair should be at least 3 to 5mm long, so the wax has something to grip.
Sensitive skin
Let me know before your appointment if you use any active skin treatments, have recently been sunburnt, or have sensitive or broken skin in the area, and we can talk it through.
On the day
When you arrive
Try to arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in. I'll make sure you're comfy, talk you through your treatment and answer any questions before we start.
Your first wax
Feeling a bit nervous is completely normal, and you're in good hands. I'll explain each step as I go, and we can pause whenever you need a breather.
Lots of people find the first wax is the most noticeable, and that it gets easier with regular appointments.
After
Looking after your skin
For 24 to 48 hours, avoid
- Hot baths, showers, saunas and steam rooms
- Sunbeds or direct sun
- Exercise and the gym
- Tight clothing
- Perfumed products or deodorants on the area
Do
- Keep the area clean and cool
- Wear loose clothing
- Apply soothing lotion if I have advised it
Good to know
- Some redness is normal and should settle within 24 hours
- Try not to touch the area more than you need to
- Exfoliate gently after 3 to 5 days to help prevent ingrown hairs
